I don't think many people have a xqd card reader or e infinity for that matter. E Infinity seems to offer the best price for the same thing - has anyone used them? The prices of readers seems very wide for a similar product. It seems odd to me that Sony don't use the xqd format in their similar cameras. Annoying thing was that i did ask and I can now understand the woolly answer I was given, but I was keen to get home and play. I wonder why?Īpologies for being a bit late to the party, but I have fallen foul of the 'unable to write to card' trick also. I don't have strong attachment to XQDs, but I do appreciate Nikon's push for faster cards. Then XQDs with their 400MB/s speeds seam fairly priced. I get the issue with availability.Īs to the price, XQDs do look expensive until one looks at the alternatives, which to me are UHS-II SD cards with read/write speeds of 300MB/s. XQD turned to be a rather controversial topic.
#Sony xqd card reader firmware plus#
I am glad that Nikon is moving away from the XQD because Sony never really used nor supported it themselves plus it is always have been expensive and out of stock in more retailers. So the grass is not really greener on the other side. It worked fairly smoothly with X-T2, but just refused to work with X-H1. But the app does not work consistently well. I know they allow for firmware to be uploaded to camera through their app. My experience with non-Nikon brands is limited to Fuji. that is the next firmware from what I hear PS: I am glad that Nikon is moving away from the XQD because Sony never really used nor supported it themselves plus it is always have been expensive and out of stock in more retailers.Ĭan you use cf express card in the nikon Z6
#Sony xqd card reader firmware update#

Though, I can present a counter-argument with Sigma and Tamron as an example with their consoles which are not included with lenses by default and have to be purchased separately. Personally, I would prefer being able to just copy the right file onto the card when connecting camera by the cable. It is up to them how it will be done: cables or XQD card reader. We ARE saying that one should be able to update the firmware with what Nikon includes in the box with a new camera. We are NOT saying Nikon should provide XQD card readers. I think you misunderstood what we are and are not saying. Zeroneg1 (a group admin) edited this topic 40 months ago. This is the responsibility of the end user rather than Nikon if you ask me and part of the consequence of using a digital camera since this is a third party accessory although yes Nikon has included them in other parts of the world with the camera but not really their responsibility but ours since that was more like a bonus or incentive.
But I absolutely agree, unless Nikon starts including XQD card readers with their cameras those said cameras should not be required to use XQD readers for firmware updates. Luckily D850 uses SD cards in addition to XQD and I do have built in SD card readers. I was going through the update for D850 and had the exact same complaint. Went to my store and they did it for free. Will do some sport test this weekend i hope, but I didn't see any continuous AF improvement in the description. I got my Z6 at a local camera store so I can bring it in. TRANIMAGING edited this topic 40 months ago.
So to update your firmware on the Nikon Z you need a xqd card reader and said in the instruction? This is lame, wasn't planning to be a xqd card reader as i am bypassing it for the other cf express card. If you connect your camera to your computer and turn it on.
